No tutoring today (read below please)

 Hi everyone!

There will be no tutoring today.

Due to an overwhelming amount of work, I decided I wouldn’t be able to give students my full attention and that would result in a poor tutoring session. 

Given that I didn’t mention this earlier, if there is a student that was planning on arriving today for tutoring, please email me at adriana.rodriguez45@upr.edu and we can agree on what to do. I won’t leave anyone hanging. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: I WILL BE TUTORING TOMORROW INSTEAD FROM 2 PM TO 6 PM. This is a one time thing. Look out for the Google Meets link for tomorrow.  

The tutoring hours on Wednesday remain the same.

New semester!

 Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great summer break. 

We’re going to continue using this platform for our tutoring sessions. I will be most likely using Google Meets, but might transition to using Microsoft Teams. In the case that I transition I will be leaving detailed instructions on how to access in a future post.

USEFUL TOOLS FOR WRITING

Grammarly

This app has been around for a few years now and it's used on google platforms like emails and google docs. It underlines the color red words and phrases that may contain errors and gives the writers suggestions on how to fix them. You can also highlight words and it may give you synonyms for them. I use it when correcting my drafts and yours too! It is especially useful for writing e-mails.

It's a google add-on, so all you have to do is go to this website: https://app.grammarly.com/ 

It will direct you on how to add the app to your google chrome web browser.

Thesaurus.com

 This is a website I like to use to look for various synonyms and antonyms. It shows you a diverse range from "more complicated to less complicated". Furthermore, it divides the word between its noun form and other forms it may have such as adjective, verb, or adverb. This is a link to the website: https://www.thesaurus.com/

It also has a tool here: https://www.thesaurus.com/writingtool where you copy/paste your texts and it verifies them for you, similar to Grammarly. 

Online Dictionaries 

I often use two online dictionaries which have proven to be resourceful to me. 

1. https://www.merriam-webster.com/

 This one is an oldie, but a goodie(as the idiom goes). It gives you definitions of the word in all it's forms and tells you how to pronounce them. 

2. https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/us/

   This one is a classic. It's been around for a very long time. 

3. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/

    Similarly to the Oxford dictionary, this one has been around for a while.
